You can take this module as part of our MSc Advanced Nursing Practice course.
You will gain advanced decision making skills, theoretical knowledge and advanced practical skills to work autonomously in caring for patients who present with a minor injury. The RCN (2010) suggest that advanced practitioners, with the appropriate education, support and development, can complement services traditionally delivered by a doctor, improving the patient journey and quality throughout the care environment.
Minor injuries cover all of the common injuries, for both adults and children. You'll learn from examples of history taking, examination, radiology, treatment and advice for each condition.
You will be supervised in practice by medical staff and / or by experienced advanced practitioners who see, treat and discharge, or refer to a specialist team, patients with a range of minor injuries.
You’ll be assessed on a 2,000-word critical analysis based on a case study from practice.
You’ll also complete a practice competency assessment.
