Automotive Technician Accreditation is governed by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), the professional association for those employed in the retail motor industry and the leading awarding body for vocational qualifications in the automotive sector.
ATA is based on National Occupational Standards to ensure that it meets the skills requirements of the retail motor industry.
To achieve accreditation, a technician must pass a series of tests of practical skill and knowledge, at one of three levels:
• Service Maintenance Technician
• Diagnostic Technician
• Master Technician
ATA is recognised as a benchmark for technician recruitment and training.
